photographer's studio & garage - madison wi

The new accessory dwelling unit (ADU) building is on a residential lot, and is intended to house a professional photgrapher’s studio and a single-car garage. The program called for an economically-built and environmentally-friendly space for the photographer’s studio needs. The passive solar design is an effort to take advantage of the southern exposure, with large amounts of glass to accept solar heat gain in the winter months and a deep roof overhang to shade the glass in the summer months. Another major influence on the design was an effort to maximize the amount of space available within the constraints of a 15-feet maximum building height.
