narrow house, chicago
This is a 12.5 feet wide home on a narrow lot, directly abutting a City Park in Chicago. The interior was inspired by the three-dimensional planning by the early modern architect Adolf Loos, creating a rich spatial experience inside. The design also simultaneously attempts to maximize views of the park while creating a sense of privacy. The other major emphasis of the home is sustainability. Every aspect of construction was scrutinized to minimize the impact on the environment and create a healthy interior environment for living. Geothermal heating/cooling, re-claimed and recycled flooring, '0' VOC finishes throughout, and FSC lumber are just a few of the sustainable features of the home.
