about
Doug Sandberg started SAAD Inc with the belief that quality, sustainable design can be achieved on a budget. He left his role as a partner at HBRA Architects in 2006 to start a firm that would focus on modern, green, affordable design.
At HBRA, Doug had leadership roles on award-winning Performing Arts Centers like Harris Theater in Millenium Park and the Bloomington (IL) Center for the Performing Arts, several Chicago Public School renovations including one that received a Chicago Landmarks award, Kelsey Museum addition at the University of Michigan, a family lodge at Paul Newman's Hole-In-The-Wall Gang Camp and a private residence in Aspen, Colorado.
Since its founding, SAAD has completed numerous single-family residential projects as well as commercial projects such as: multi-family renovations, pro-bono work for Apna Ghar women’s shelters, Metropolis Coffee Roastery renovations, storefronts, offices and art exhibition spaces.
SAAD has developed and honed a design process that builds consensus with clients, while infusing creativity throughout the design and construction process.
